Society and Deviance

This hypothetical social group consists of about 3000 people the whole population is made up of pairs, so 2 people act as one. This partnership does not have to be romantic or involved beyond the point of cooperation with one another to achieve their objectives.  Mind you that these pairs do not have to live together, this is more of a work partnership, but even so these pairings spend a majority of time with one another.

Their society has a focus on physicality and mobility. The social group's age range goes from 14 - 70 years of age. Typically groups are paired with one another with up to a decade of age difference. The more physically capable and effective a pairing is denotes their importance and status among the chiefdom. Along with their age, this is what separates their society.

The youths (14-17) are separated into various training groups to see where their proficiency lies, at this time, the partnered pairs are also not solidified and can be changed depending on what combinations work best. If the youths happen to be twins, it is seen as a ill omen and their partnership is non negotiable cemented. It is a fading superstitious belief, but the societies elders think that their bad luck wont be able to spread to other pairs of the society if they are forced to stay together.

As for decoration preferences,  each pair when their partnership is finalized, their graduation ceremony involves branding matching tattoos/markings on the nape of their necks. Kind of like a stamp of symbolize of their bond. When one of the people in a pair dies, the mark is covered with a mourning collar, which is a black delicately woven necklace like garment meant to cover the bond and lay it to rest. It is possible for singles to find a new partner, and in that case, the black woven necklace is replaced with a white one, and a new bond symbol is added to the front collar piece. If someone is forever alone and cannot find a new partner, then they are tasked with more meticulous solo work such as being a tailor or bookkeeping, sometimes teaching. This is not necessarily seen as a sign of low status, more so people will feel bad and pity the individual.

In terms of relationships, that system is still every one for themselves. It is the only social construct that stays the same in terms of individual responsibility and regardless of pairing relationships can develop between anyone from any pair.  Example, There is Pair 1 winch has person A and B, Pair 2 that has person C and D and Pair 3 that has person E and F. Person A and E are in a romantic relationship, while Person C and D are also in a romantic relationship. Person B and F are still single and looking for a significant other, but they are best friends and support each others search for love.

They live in a heavily forested area, lots of wild life and gathering resources. They stay mobile to travel along side their hunted pray. They have mobile campers that they can disassemble and rebuild fairly easily, these are set up in the heights of the trees. The tree canopy is very thick and blocks most of the weather. They collect rain water and gather from springs when convenient.

Every year in their travels, they eventually take up residence near a waterfall and rocky clearing. This is typically where the graduation ceremony occurs and Bond branding are given.

This society is a mix of a pastoral society and a agriculture based society. Their social organization is a chiefdom. They have record keeping in order to analyze the trends in animal migration and foraging areas. History of non-food production specialization is also kept on record for future generations. These specializations include carpentry, pelting, carvers, and weaving and cloth fabrication, scribe duties.
